Whiting-Turner

Valued construction and development partner since 1981

The National Aquarium and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company’s relationship and shared commitment to sustainability runs deep. Since 1981, Whiting-Turner has partnered with the National Aquarium to construct award-winning exhibits, and has provided generous philanthropic contributions to help realize the Aquarium’s ambitious growth. The company is also a long-time corporate member, sharing enthusiasm for the Aquarium and its mission with their employees and clients.

Whiting-Turner has overseen the construction of many Aquarium visitors’ favorite habitats, including Blacktip Reef and the highly interactive Living Seashore. Whiting-Turner’s dedication to sustainability does not stop at constructing exhibits that educate and inspire conservation. As one of the largest builders of sustainable structures in the nation, Whiting-Turner leads their industry by expanding their network of LEED® accredited professionals and minimizing their carbon footprint through energy reduction and recycling.

Whiting-Turner helped build the National Aquarium of today and continues to help shape its future with an early investment in our waterfront campus project, a transformation of Piers 3 and 4 that will improve the health and biodiversity of the Inner Harbor through innovative floating wetlands and inspire the public to care for the Chesapeake Bay through free, interactive installations.
