Living Seashore: One Year Later

Today marks the one-year anniversary of our Living Seashore exhibit!

On May 12, 2015, we introduced guests to our most interactive exhibit yet, Living Seashore, which celebrates the natural wonders of the Mid-Atlantic's coastal ecosystem.

To date, more than 1 million people (including Vice President Joe Biden) have visited our gallery, which features two touchpools and a variety of hands-on experiences.

Then Vice President Joseph R. Biden observes Aquarium staff handling a sea star in a Living Seashore touchpool during a visit to the Aquarium with his grandchildren in 2016.

The exhibit's touchpools contain more than 5,000 gallons of salt water and are teeming with aquatic life, including Atlantic stingrays, horseshoe crabs and moon jellies!

As they explore Living Seashore, guests uncover the many hidden treasures of the Atlantic shore, leaving with a new appreciation for the unique habitat the exhibit recreates.
