From February 18 through early April, the fourth level of the main Aquarium building will be closed for renovation, changing access to amenities and guest routes. Staff will be available to assist with alternative routes and accessibility accommodations.
TEDx: Seeing Dolphins Differently
National Aquarium President and CEO John Racanelli shares how we're turning empathy into action with our dolphin sanctuary project.
- Animals
Countless studies have been done on the capacity of animals—both human and nonhuman—to show empathy for one another. Most scientists agree that empathy is an evolutionary advantage reserved for the smartest mammals, including great apes, dolphins and humans.
As important as our capacity for empathy, we humans have a unique ability to turn our empathy into action. If empathy is how we feel, compassion is what we do about those feelings.
In this TEDx, you'll hear our CEO, John Racanelli, expand on the vision and driving forces behind our dolphin sanctuary project.
