Overview

Learn all about National Aquarium's Harbor Wetland® presented by CFG Bank, from its design and maintenance to the biodiversity it's drawn in and the impact it's had on the Inner Harbor! Guests and their groups can select from multiple program options, ranging from a relaxed question-and-answer session to more interactive explorations complete with science stations.

Members

Harbor Wetland Explorations are priced the same for members and non-members.

Important

  • When tours and programs take place during Harbor Wetland's normal operating hours, the exhibit will remain open to the public.
  • All Harbor Wetland programming is weather dependent.

Age Limitation

  • There is no age requirement for these tour options; guests of all ages can participate.
  • All guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Program Options and Pricing

There are three program options to choose from. Once you submit an interest form, a member of our team will contact you.

An Aquarium staff member will be available to answer questions on Harbor Wetland for a pre-scheduled hour. There is no formal programming, and guests/the group may come and go as they wish during the hour.

Program Duration: 1 hour
Price: $250
Maximum Participants: 200

An Aquarium staff member will greet the guests/group on Harbor Wetland before either giving a 15-minute talk or leading a short lab activity. (Groups must select which they’d prefer when booking.) After this, staff will open the floor for questions and discussion for up to 45 minutes.

Staff talks cover the infrastructure and function of the constructed wetland, local wildlife, and water quality in the Inner Harbor. Staff-led lab activities focus on water quality or native plants.

Price: $500
Maximum Participants: 50

Aquarium staff will greet the group on Harbor Wetland before leading guests through three science stations throughout the 90 minutes of program exploration. The group will select their preferred science stations ahead of time:

  • A wildlife station
  • An educational lab focused on water quality or native plants
  • A station detailing the wetland's infrastructure
  • A station about community engagement and science interpretation

Maximum Participants: 50*

*Additional guests can be added at extra cost, but the number of science stations will remain the same.

Before You Go

Here's everything you need to know before your Harbor Wetland Explorations program.

  • Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing.
  • When booking your tour, please notify Tours and Experiences of any guests with special needs.

The National Aquarium reserves the right to cancel or reschedule programs in case of inclement weather. If your tour cannot be rescheduled, the Aquarium will provide a full refund for Option 1 programs and a refund minus a $125 processing fee for Options 2 or 3. Groups can cancel up to 30 days prior to their program.

To ensure that your tour hasn't been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, please call 410-576-8822 the day of your program for cancellation information.
