The National Aquarium welcomed over 2,000 guests over two nights for its School Shell-ebration, an annual opportunity for Baltimore-area families to enjoy a memorable evening of aquatic, after-hours fun in celebration of their accomplishments at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 school year.
"We're proud to open our doors to celebrate the students and families who gave their all this school year," said Sarah Doccolo, Community Programs Manager at the National Aquarium. "It's a joy to welcome our community for a night that's not only fun but also filled with meaningful moments that spark curiosity and a deeper connection to the world around them."
The festivities, which took place on June 10 and 12, kick off summer for local students with joyous moments throughout the building. Aquarium staff and the talented artists of Fluid Movement warmly and enthusiastically welcomed students, while dynamic performances from Baltimore Hoop Love elevated the evening's excitement.
Aquarium educators also engaged with students throughout the evening, encouraging them to take pride in their academic accomplishments throughout the seasational school year.
One guest expressed excitement about this year's event, stating, "I would love to do this again! My son loved it. It is great that there are events like this because each child deserves to learn and experience the aquarium."
Supported by Open Water, Shell-ebration is just one of the many annual community programs the Aquarium offers to welcome local guests at free or reduced admission.
