The National Aquarium is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Dembiec as Vice President of Animal Care Operations. In his new role, Dembiec will lead teams responsible for caring for the animal residents at the National Aquarium. Additionally, Dembiec will oversee the Aquarium's behavioral husbandry program and dive program operations.

Dembiec brings a wealth of expertise to the National Aquarium, with over 20 years of animal husbandry experience at four renowned zoological institutions, including the Dallas Zoo, Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, the Memphis Zoo and Sedgwick County Zoo.

His capabilities and leadership span various animal care disciplines, adhering to the highest standards for animal wellbeing.

Dembiec is a professional fellow with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and has actively contributed to several committees to foster collaboration across zoos and aquariums worldwide. His work helps ensure that animals are cared for sustainably while promoting their optimal wellbeing.

In addition to his professional experience, Dembiec holds a master's degree in zoology from Michigan State University, focusing on zoo and aquarium science. He also holds an MBA from Jacksonville University and a bachelor's degree in biology from DePaul University.
