National Aquarium Announces New Board Members

Dr. Enric Sala and Ted Wiese join Board of Directors

The National Aquarium is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Enric Sala and Ted Wiese to its National Aquarium Board of Directors.

"Dr. Sala and Mr. Wiese bring with them a wealth of experience and complementary perspectives to our Board of Directors," said John Racanelli, National Aquarium chief executive officer. "Each will play an integral part in our work to grow our national profile and advance our conservation mission."

Sala is a marine ecologist and a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence dedicated to restoring the health and productivity of the ocean through worldwide marine ecosystem protection and business models for marine conservation. In 2008, he founded National Geographic's Pristine Seas, a project that works to identify and protect the last wild places in the ocean through partnerships with global leaders. To date, Pristine Seas has helped to create 13 marine reserves around the world, covering an area of over four million square kilometers.

Sala is a Royal Geographical Society Fellow and a consultant for various international organization advisory boards, including the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. He also lends his experience and scientific expertise as a consultant to governments, including Ecuador and France.

Sala earned his doctorate in ecology from the University of Aix-Marseille, France.

Wiese is head of the Fixed Income Division for T. Rowe Price, overseeing fixed income investment management. He is the chairman of T. Rowe Price's Fixed Income Steering Committee and is a member of the Diversity Advisory Council and Management, Finance and Counterparty Risk committees. He previously served as president and co-chairman of the Investment Advisory committees of the Short-Term Bond Fund and the Limited-Term Bond Portfolio. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Wiese received a Bachelor of Arts in geology from Yale University, a Masters of Science in biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA in finance from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
