The National Aquarium is pleased to announce the appointment of Nora Campbell as its new director of sales. Campbell, who most recently served as regional manager of the two Ripley's Believe it or Not attractions in Maryland, started at the National Aquarium last month.
In her new position, Campbell will be responsible for developing sales and budget strategies and maximizing revenue, while maintaining the Aquarium's service standards, mission, values and objectives. She will also oversee the development and implementation of marketing and sales strategies for corporate and association meetings and events, group tours, consignment partners and new sales initiatives. In addition, Campbell will oversee the aquarium's Central Reservations function.
"Nora brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and the organization, having worked for some of Baltimore's finest attractions and entertainment venues," said Margot Amelia, National Aquarium senior vice president/chief marketing officer. "We are thrilled to have her talent on our team as we look ahead at the future of the National Aquarium."
Campbell comes to the National Aquarium with nearly 20 years of management, tourism sales and marketing experience, previously serving in roles at the Water Taxi, Maryland Science Center and Toby's Dinner Theatre. Most recently, she served as regional manager of Ripley's Believe It or Not, where she oversaw the operations of both the Baltimore and Ocean City locations. Campbell managed every facet of operations and budget reporting, developed annual marketing plans and creative concepts, and hired, trained and directed 45 staff members. She was involved in all aspects of the opening of Ripley's Baltimore location in June 2012.
Campbell has been a member of the Baltimore Tourism Association since 2003, serving in various board positions since 2005, most notably as president since 2012. She's been engaged with International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, Baltimore Area Concierge Association and Visit Baltimore, and was recently elected to the Maryland Tourism Coalition board. In 2010, she won the Certified Tourism Ambassador of the Year award and was nominated for the National Academy Foundation Tourism and Hospitality Professional of the Year.
Campbell earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
