National Aquarium Names Vice President of Individual Giving

The National Aquarium is pleased to announce that Scott Douglas Melton has been named vice president of individual giving. Melton will direct the National Aquarium's membership, annual giving, planned giving and major giving programs through a continued expansion project to better serve the Aquarium's mission.
In his new role, Melton will be responsible for continuously growing and diversifying the organization's supporter base. He will lead the ongoing expansion of membership programs to ensure a strong position among giving programs and a beneficial continuum for supporters. Additionally, as a senior member of the development team, he will actively participate in creating comprehensive communication and solicitation strategies, developing and implementing donor-centered strategies and managing the operations for all individual fundraising efforts.
"Scott's extensive experience within the fundraising community makes him a perfect fit for the National Aquarium," said Marisa Wigglesworth, National Aquarium Chief Philanthropy Officer. "His impressive expertise, strong leadership skills and passion to help others will make him a great addition to our team."
Melton brings to the National Aquarium over 10 years of experience in managing campaigns in program development, fundraising strategies and raising awareness of nonprofit organizations. Prior to National Aquarium, Melton worked as senior director of individual giving at NAACP. Where he was responsible for growing the Association's individual giving programs from 35,000 to over 180,000 active individual donors. Prior to his role as senior director, Melton served as director of annual and planned giving, and director of annual funds for NAACP.

Melton earned his Bachelor of Science degree in integrated marketing communication from Winthrop University. He sits on a number of boards including the South Baltimore Improvement Committee and is an advisor to the Southern Elections Fund. Melton currently resides in Federal Hill.
