Nabila Chami

Vice President of Strategic Alignment

As vice president of strategic alignment for the National Aquarium, Nabila Chami advances revenue and reputation goals. Her work includes long-range planning for diversity, equity, inclusion and justice (DEIJ), conservation action, partnership strategy, revenue generation and more.

Since 2017, Chami has served as a core team member for a variety of long-term strategic planning initiatives. These include the Aquarium's Conservation Action Plan as well as its diversity, equity, inclusion and justice efforts. Nabila reports to Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Margot Amelia, and helps develop the Aquarium's short-term and long-range strategic plans, as well as effectively educating Aquarium staff on the value of strategic planning, data-supported prioritization of work, and regular program audits and evaluation.

Nabila began her career at the National Aquarium in 2012 as social media and public relations coordinator and was promoted to director of content strategy in 2016. In 2018, she was promoted to director of brand strategy, where she led an in-house team of creatives, content writers and social strategists to ensure timely, impactful and on-brand storytelling. Throughout her tenure, she has been the recipient of awards for excellence in social media from the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Magazine and Baltimore Business Journal. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from American University.
