Vice President of Environmental Quality and Facilities
Kasie Regnier joined the National Aquarium in 2026 as vice president of environmental quality and facilities, leading the division responsible for physical systems, water and energy operations, and building infrastructure. Kasie oversees the Facilities Operations and Life Support teams and works cross-functionally to strategically align campus planning with the wellbeing of the Aquarium's animals, its physical operations, and the experience and comfort of guests.
Kasie began her career in animal behavior research, studying neuroscience in Hawaiian wrasses. As part of her work at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, she also managed water infrastructure and pumps for the island, and served as a dive safety and boating officer. Through this experience, she discovered a passion for the applied sciences, the people behind them, and most especially the intersection of animal and human wellbeing with both their natural and aquarium environments. This interest led her to pivot and focus on physical infrastructure and water science in public aquariums.
Before joining National Aquarium, Kasie spent 10 years at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where she served as director overseeing facilities operations, life support, water science, environmental permitting and compliance, design engineering, automated controls, infrastructure planning, and capital construction.
Kasie holds a Master of Science in zoology/animal behavior from the University of Hawaii and a Master of Arts in sustainability, with a focus on sustainable infrastructure and the water-energy nexus, from Harvard University.
