Anna L. Smith

Anna Smith has more than four decades of experience in the wealth advisory and investment management industry. Prior to retirement, she was a senior vice president at M&T Bank/Wilmington Trust. Throughout her distinguished career, Anna played a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives, leading high-performing teams and delivering exceptional results. One of Anna's most gratifying accomplishments was overseeing M&T Bank's charitable foundation for Greater Baltimore and Greater Washington, positioning M&T Bank as Baltimore's fifth largest corporate philanthropist in 2023. Anna was an integral part of the leadership that ensured that M&T Bank was a recognized community leader, measured by not only financial support but also employee involvement and volunteerism. Since retiring, Anna has remained active in the community by serving on numerous boards. In addition to the National Aquarium Foundation, the organizations Anna serves include Stevenson University, Irvine Nature Center, the Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust (B.E.S.T.), ReBuild Metro and St. Thomas' Church. Anna holds a bachelor's degree from Hollins University and is a graduate of the National Trust School at Northwestern University. She is a graduate of Leadership Maryland, was recognized by the Baltimore Sun in their 2022 "Women to Watch" issue, and has twice been recognized by The Daily Record as one of Maryland's Top 100 Women.
