Jacqueline Bowie

Vice President of Board Engagement and Chief of Staff

Jacqueline Bowie is vice president of board engagement and chief of staff for the National Aquarium. She started in this role in July 2025 and works closely with the National Aquarium Board of Directors and the National Aquarium Foundation.

Jackie joined the Aquarium as a volunteer diver in January 2013, a position she still holds today. After volunteering for a year, she became a full-time employee in May 2013 as an assistant in the Philanthropy department. Jackie has been promoted several times since then, to manager of major gifts, donor relations director, and then to board engagement director before being named to her current role. She received the National Aquarium's highest employee honor, the Frank A. Gunther, Jr. Community Service Award/Employee of the Year, in 2016.

In addition to her volunteer work at the Aquarium, Jackie currently serves on the Joseph and Vera Douglas Family Foundation Advisory Council, the Minorities in Aquarium and Zoo Sciences Board, and the Chesapeake Conservation Corp Advisory Board.

Jackie's degrees include a bachelor's in biology from Bates College and a master's in environmental law and policy from Vermont Law and Graduate School. She also holds certificates in nonprofit board consulting from BoardSource, diversity and inclusion from Cornell University, and the Professional Leadership Program for Women from Towson University.
