Join the National Aquarium at the Baltimore Book Festival, situated along the Light Street promenade in the scenic Inner Harbor!

In partnership with the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, the National Aquarium is proud to present a full weekend of FREE programming for ocean and conservation enthusiasts of all ages!

Animal Encounters

Join National Aquarium animal care staff at 2:30 pm on Friday, 11:00 am Saturday, and Sunday on the Paws and Pages Stage to get up close and personal with a live animal. From snakes to birds and everything in between, you never know who you might get to see!

Read to Reef Featured Author Spotlight: Susan Stockdale

Bring the kids to the Enoch Pratt Free Library Children’s Stage on Saturday at 1:00 pm to hear award-winning children’s author Susan Stockdale present from her books, Bring on the Birds and Fabulous Fishes, both of which are featured on the National Aquarium’s Read to Reef Book Club list!

Sustainable Seafood Panel featuring Jay Fleming

On Saturday at 3:30 pm on the Food for Thought Stage, a moderated discussion about seafood sustainability will bring the Chesapeake Bay to the Baltimore Book Festival! Photographer Jay Fleming will join culinary experts John Shields, Spike Gjerde and Patrick Hudson to share insights, discuss Jay’s upcoming book Working the Water and bring festival-goers into one of the most crucial conservation conversations of 2016. This panel will conclude with oyster shucking and tasting by Hudson’s True Chesapeake Oysters and sustainable small bites demonstrated and provided by Gjerde and Shields.
