Homeschool Field Trips

We are thrilled that you have chosen the National Aquarium for your next homeschool field trip. A visit to the Aquarium is your students' passport to discovering the world's aquatic treasures! Our programs are specifically designed for homeschoolers and we are happy to provide information to assist with planning your field trip. Field trips can be booked for groups of 15 or more.

Homeschool program reservations for the 2017-2018 school year will be accepted beginning June 14, 2017 at 9 am.

Homeschool Days

September 12 - 14, 2017

Marine Mammals! Join the National Aquarium for the 2017 Homeschool Days program. Homeschool families will start their day with an auditorium program focusing on what types of mammals live in the ocean. Learn about the adaptations that help this diverse group of mammals survive in the ocean. After the program, families can enjoy a self-guided tour of the National Aquarium, with a learning passport in hand. Families will have the opportunity to visit hands-on discovery stations, which focus on marine mammals and their adaptations.

Homeschool Days are open to pre-K through high school students and are designed to be family learning days.

We will be offering this program on three days:

Chaperone Fees 
Each reservation includes one free adult chaperone admission for each group of up to five students. Additional chaperones are welcome at $27.95 per person, which includes Aquarium admission only.

$15 per student, per day.

Out-of-State Homeschool Groups
Grades pre-K - 6
$32.95 per student, per day.

$38.95 per student, per day.

Chaperone and program fees include Aquarium admission only. 4-D Immersion Theater tickets can be purchased the day of your visit at the information desk on Level 1.

Monthly Homeschool Programs

Two Mondays each month, from October to February, for students in kindergarten through grade 12.

Students must be at least 5 years of age to participate in the homeschool series class.

The monthly homeschool program is a drop-off class. Students will be dropped off at one of the National Aquarium classrooms for an hour-long session. Homeschool teachers are asked to wait outside of the classroom or explore the Aquarium at their leisure during the class time.

October 2017 – February 2018
Grades 6-12 (ages 11+) meet from 10:30 am to 11:30 am.
Grades K-2 (ages 5-7) meet from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
Grades 3-5 (ages 8-10) meet from 2 pm to 3 pm.

Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, homeschool programs will be conducted as scheduled unless either the National Aquarium or Baltimore City Public Schools are closed. If the program is cancelled for whatever reason, the National Aquarium will do its best to reschedule the program for March 2018. In the event the program cannot be rescheduled, all participants will receive a refund.

Confirm Your Reservation
Upon receipt of your reservation acknowledgement, verify all information and return the signed agreement. You must confirm your reservation at least 21 days prior to your visit to prevent cancellation.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

You must cancel your reservation more than 21 days in advance of your scheduled visit to receive a full refund of payments. If you cancel your reservation less than 21 days in advance, or fail to arrive at your scheduled entry time, you forfeit the deposit and all program fees.
