Education Internship

Education interns assist the Guest Engagment and Education staff in the creation, revision, and instruction of school programs, outreach programs, guest engagement programs, and/or other education programs. The selected candidate will work with an enthusiastic team of educators and a variety of audiences, and will learn a number of teaching methods in changing settings.

Essential Functions

  • Create, revise, and instruct formal onsite and outreach programs, both classroom and auditorium style
  • Engage the Aquarium’s visitors at exhibits and interpretational carts, and deliver presentations
  • Work with the Aquarium’s high school work-based learning program, Aquarium on Wheels
  • Participate in Immersion Tour programming, including sleepovers and other tours
  • Assist with administrative work as needed
  • Complete special projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college, pursuing a degree in education, science, or a related field
  • Must be interested in informal education, public speaking, and customer service
  • Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
