Animal Rescue Update: Phil’s Release!

Phil was successfully rehabilitated and returned to the ocean!

Early this morning, the National Aquarium’s Animal Rescue team transported our harbor seal patient, Phil, to Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook, New Jersey, for release.Phil-release-on-beach

The team arrived at the release site around 10:30 am and was greeted by a group of about 75 onlookers. After being unloaded from the car and guided down to the water’s edge, Phil quickly shuffled his way into the waves!phil-release-on-beach

Phil was in treatment for about 12 weeks to recover from dehydration, an eye infection and other ailments. Learn more about his time in rehabilitation!phil-release-water-edge
