The National Aquarium welcomed 1,960 guests to its 26th annual Grade A Student Night celebration on June 21 and June 28. The program rewards area students who achieve three or more A's (or equivalent) in any one marking period with a free evening of entertainment and exploration, along with opportunities for the whole family to join in the celebration.
For the second year, to accommodate the growing popularity of Grade A Student Night, the program took place over two nights. The extended celebration welcomed 474 families and recognized 854 Pre-K – 12 students from schools in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Howard County.
"The National Aquarium is proud to host an event that not only provides community access, but also helps students connect academic success to real-life rewards," said Jenny Hamilton, community programs manager. "These young guests work hard all year long, so we love kicking off summer break with a celebration of their accomplishments, shared with their families."
In addition to enjoying full access to the Aquarium's exhibits and animals, guests experienced special showings in the 4D Immersion Theater, live musical performances, animal encounters and more. Attendees also learned about school and family education programs that allow them to stay involved with the Aquarium throughout the year.
