Track Freya's Progress

Follow These Leatherback Sea Turtles' Paths From Nesting Grounds to Feeding Grounds

Freya Update: July 27, 2009
It has been a week since we have had a successful transmission from Freya's satellite transmitter. Factors such as weather, location, battery life of the tag, and erosion of the adhesive used to hold it in place can lead to a lack of transmission. The backpack-like device that held the satellite transmitter was designed to fall off within a few weeks. In the weeks Freya was tracked, the turtle nested once and traveled a distance of more than 880 miles. We wish safe travels to Freya!
