National Aquarium, Washington D.C. Announce Return of Sustainable Seafood Dining Series

2/28/2013

National Aquarium, Washington, D.C., has announced three new dates for their 2013 Fresh Thoughts Sustainable Seafood Dining Series. This is the third year the Aquarium has hosted the series educating guests about sustainable seafood, one of Seafood Business Magazine’s Top 10 Trends for 2013

The Aquarium has once again teamed up with Chef Xavier Deshayes, Executive Chef at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, to develop the menu for all three dinners. Chef Deshayes is on the forefront of developing sustainable and environmentally conscious menus by thoroughly researching his product sources. For the 2013 events, the National Aquarium Conservation Team will travel with Chef Deshayes to visit and acquire the seafood for his menu.

Guests who attend the events enjoy a cocktail reception, a three-course fine-dining experience, conversations with experts, as well as an after-hours stroll through the Aquarium. Each evening is themed around a specific sustainable seafood choice. This year, the Fresh Thoughts series will feature caviar, shrimp and salmon. The dates of the dinners are April 24, June 19 and September 25, 2013.

“This is a trend we’ve been celebrating and promoting for years,” said Steven Schindler, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for National Aquarium. “The Fresh Thoughts dining series is a great way for people to learn about the importance of sustainability while enjoying an incredibly prepared meal. Just because it is good for you, doesn't mean it can’t taste good!”

Tickets for each dinner are priced at $79 for National Aquarium members and $89 for non-members, or all three dinners can be purchased as a package with a discount of $10 per dinner. Tickets can be purchased at www.aqua.org or by calling 202-789-2782. Fresh Thoughts Sustainable Seafood Dining Series dinners take place at 6:30 p.m. at National Aquarium, Washington D.C. located at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20230
