With just two weeks remaining in the Get-Going Costa Rica Family Adventure Sweepstakes offer, the National Aquarium announces the last chance to enter this exciting sweepstakes that will send on lucky family on an eco-adventure in Costa Rica! Through a partnership with the Costa Rica Tourism Board, the National Aquarium along with the Los Angeles Zoo launched a sweepstakes that will send two lucky families of four on an all-inclusive family eco-adventure to Costa Rica for a seven-day, six night stay this summer. Families are encouraged to enter through the National Aquarium’s official Facebook page before the entry period closes on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. EST. The winning family will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.
The National Aquarium will select one lucky family of four at random to accompany their conservation experts on an all-expense paid eco-adventure in Costa Rica this summer to learn about the biodiversity of Costa Rica’s rich lands, fauna and flora and gain insight on existing research being done to preserve Costa Rica’s natural habitat. The adventure will begin in San Jose, with a journey through one of Costa Rica’s top rated coastlines in Manuel Antonio National Park. Throughout the week the families will also have the opportunity to observe dolphins and whales in Costa Ballena and explore the wildlife and pristine beaches of Corcovado National Park.
“The Get-Going Costa Rica Family Eco-Adventure sweepstakes is a refreshing and interactive way for children and families to learn more about our country on a first hand basis,” said Maria Amalia Revelo, marketing director for the Costa Rica Tourism Board. “In recent years, Costa Rica has become a major tourist destination for families around the world. Parents and children visit Costa Rica to discover biodiversity, relax on the beaches and enjoy a safe and fun vacation,” she added.
Participants can register weekly to win by visiting the National Aquarium’s Facebook page or by visiting www.visitcostarica.com. Nearly 20,000 entries have been received since the contest opened on January 3, 2011. The winning family will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.
“In just under three months, we have had over 8,000 unique entries for the Get-Going Costa Rica Sweepstakes, confirming that Costa Rica is a popular travel destination for families,” commented Jeff Dow, director of partnerships for the National Aquarium. “The National Aquarium is excited to help showcase Costa Rica as a family-oriented tourism destination and for the opportunity to demonstrate our work in Costa Rican rain forest and sea turtle conservation.”
The Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens opened the second Get Going Costa Rica Family Adventure Sweepstakes on March 1, 2011. That entry period will remain open through June 30, 2011, 5:00 p.m. EST.

About Costa Rica
Costa Rica is located in Central America, nestled between Nicaragua and Panama, and bordered on the east by the Caribbean Sea and the west by the Pacific Ocean. This small country represents only .05 percent of the planet’s surface and it shelters almost 5 percent of the existing world’s biodiversity. It has given priority to the conservation of its natural resources, protecting 26 percent of its national territory through the creation of National Parks and other natural areas. The country also offers world-class eco-tourism and adventure travel. The options are unlimited for any discriminating traveler: horseback riding on a secluded beach; hiking through the lush whispering greenery of a rainforest; having an exhilarating experience on a white-water rafting trip, observing the tropical forests from a canopy tour; surfing the blue waves of either coast; experiencing close encounter with different species of birds and wildlife; and enjoying the diverse culture and hospitality of the Ticos.
