Activities:
February 2, 2006
- Abu the Flutemaker, Baltimore’s own pied piper, intrigues with his magical ability to transform baseball into saxophones, porch columns into thunder drums, sardine cans into miniature pianos,
and broken glass into xylophones. The award-winning Aquarium on Wheels theatrical group performs “Chesapeake Bay Dreaming,” an original play by the students.
February 9, 2006
- Author and founder of the Blacks on the Chesapeake Foundation and holder of the honorary title of Admiral of the Chesapeake, Vincent Leggett is well known for bringing to light the significant
achievements of African Americans throughout the history of the Chesapeake Bay. Multimedia presentation with book signing to follow.
February 16, 2006
- Goree Dance Company: led by executive director Willa Walker and artistic director Babacar N’Diaye of the National Dance Company of Senegal, the Goree Dancers are a must-experience performance for all ages.
- Bunjo Butler, "The West Baltimore African Talkin' Drum,” uses stories, songs, music and audience participation to celebrate the contributions of African Americans to American culture. The
audience will gain insight as Bunjo tells stories about the origin of Black History Month as well as several other witty, humorous, and heart warming stories.
February 23, 2006
- Congressman Elijah Cummings, who represents Maryland’s 7th District, will host a forum.
- A gospel dance group will demonstrate their craft.
When: Every Friday in February, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Cost: These events occur on a Fridays after Five dates, so Aquarium admission
and all events cost $8 per person.
