The selected candidate will provide assistance with Aquarium Media Relations activities.
Essential Functions
- Assist with writing, proofreading, copying, and distributing press materials (press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, follow-up letters, etc.)
- Fulfill media requests for press kits, photos, and information
- Assist with planning and facilitation of special events
- Assist with the coordination of media visits to the Aquarium, from escorting film crews around the building to arranging interviews with appropriate staff
- Complete special projects and/or reports when assigned
- Research, as necessary, to verify facts for press materials
- Assist with the maintenance of media archives and clippings.
Requirements
- Open to college sophomores, juniors, or seniors pursuing a degree in communications, English, public relations, or a related field.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to operate within Microsoft Office systems.
- Must be able to present writing samples and references.
- Must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work within the selected term.
