Marjorie Lynn Bank Lecture Series
Join Richard Theiss in a viewing of "Island of the Great White Shark"
Wednesday, June 18, 7:00 p.m.

Ages: 10 to Adult

Most people are familiar with the blockbuster film "Jaws," where the great white shark terrorizes a small island community. Well, now it's time to hear the sharks' side of the story. Join the Aquarium this summer in welcoming Richard Theiss, founder of RTSea Productions, at the viewing of his documentary "Island of the Great White Shark." Journey to Mexico's Isla Guadalupe with Richard Theiss, avid scuba diver, conservation enthusiast and videographer, as he explores this misunderstood creature. The film exposes the threats posed to sharks by the fishing industry and illegal poaching through its comprehensive look at sharks and the research techniques being used to protect these vulnerable animals. "Island of the Great White Shark" breaks misconceptions about the mysterious great white shark, providing a more realistic portrait of this majestic creature. RTSea Productions calls for awareness and understanding in order to preserve the great white shark and save it from possible extinction. Richard Theiss believes, "This is a story that needed to be told." RTSea Productions aims to capture underwater images that will impress and move viewers to preserve and protect the world's natural resources -- above and below the waves. The company has provided services to clients such as Disney Studios, National Geographic and Paramount Pictures. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Reservations are required/space is limited/call 410-727-3474 Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time for reservations or information, including the cancellation policy.
