Clean, fresh water is in critically short supply for many parts of the globe. We at the National Aquarium will continue to engage in and support programs that sustainably generate access to fresh water. It is only through scientific research and government support that we can continue to improve access and protect the environment.
It’s impossible to define water’s single greatest benefit. (That’s how much we need it, people.) We need clean drinking water to stay healthy. We need enough water to grow our food. Water supports industry, energy, transportation, recreation, cities and towns, wetlands and forests, parrots and polar bears, agriculture and aquaculture. Water shapes our climate, defines our history and WILL form our future.
But we already know all of this. We are water-savvy. We understand the importance of the quality and quantity of water in our lives.
So, what’s still left to understand about fresh water? Let’s see...Did you know?
