Working in tandem with our Guest Engagement team, we’ve identified some prime locations throughout the National Aquarium where trainers of all levels can not only get the most out of their visit, but also catch a variety of Pokémon.
Below see how and where you can spot Pokémon, fuel up at Pokéstops, and battle it out in the onsite gym!
Pick your arrival time
In order to get the most out of your experience, plan your Aquarium visit with ample time to see our exhibits and catch all the Pokémon you can. Summer is a busy season for us, so plan accordingly! You can purchase your tickets prior to arrival, and pick your entry time, at www.aqua.org/tickets.
There are three Pokéstops accessible from inside the Aquarium. One by the Information Desk on Pier 3, one in the Dolphin Discovery exhibit on Pier 4 and one in the Café on Pier 4. Remember to visit every viewable Pokéstop to get 50XP each, even if you don’t pick up any items. Just outside of the Aquarium on Piers 3 and 4 there are an additional seven Pokéstops.

Hatch some eggs!
A walk around the Inner Harbor delivers dozens of Pokéstops, several gyms and hatches those eggs you’ve collected at the same time! If you want to take a walk outside during your Aquarium visit just get a hand stamp on your way out. Once you’re done hatching eggs you can easily return and cool off at the Aquarium.
There is one gym located on the south end of Pier 3. You can battle in comfort from the Harbor View Room on Level 4. Refreshments are also available for purchase in this area to refuel while you duke it out in the gym.
Spot a sea-themed Pokémon? Share it with us!
Share screenshots of the Pokémon you catch with us on Twitter (@NatlAquarium), Instagram (@NationalAquarium) and Facebook (National Aquarium).
The safety of our animals and guests is always our top priority. Please be cautious around galleries, especially over open-water! For your own safety, don’t follow Pokémon into behind-the-scenes or into unauthorized areas. Additionally, pay attention outside of the Aquarium as you take advantage of the gym and Pokéstops in the Inner Harbor area.
Be prepared for your long day of Aquarium fun! Make sure you charge up your battery prior to your visit to ensure that you’re ready to grab every Pokémon that crosses your path. It may be advantageous to bring an external battery backup or your phone charger. There are outlets sporadically placed throughout the Aquarium.
In the latest version of the game, power-saving bug fixes have been made, but you can do even more to prolong your play. Activate the power-saving mode by clicking the main menu Pokéball, select settings, then check the box next to “Battery Saver.
The Aquarium also offers free WiFi access for guests! To connect, simply use the “national_aquarium” network on your mobile device. You’ll be prompted to accept the network’s terms of service and then be able to use the network throughout the duration of your visit.
Note: The National Aquarium did not select the placements of game elements. Please do not access any elements in non-public areas of the Aquarium. Pokémon and Pokémon character names are trademarks of Nintendo.
