Loggerhead Turtle Hatchling

This turtle is part of North Carolina Aquarium’s Loggerhead Head Start Program, which aims to give endangered sea turtles a better chance at survival in the wild.

Loggerhead hatchlings are brought to aquariums where they can safely grow, then later released back into the ocean.

The National Aquarium has participated in the Head Start Program since 2004. Our newest addition will remain on exhibit here at the Aquarium for about two years until it grows large enough to be released!
