What We're Thankful For: Animal Rescue

In the spirit of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we’re asking various teams from across the Aquarium what they are thankful for this year!

Today, we’re sharing responses from our Animal Rescue team:

sea turtle

At this time of year, our Animal Rescue staff are busy preparing for incoming cold-stun turtle patients and seal season, both of which are just around the corner!

During this time, our task lists are long, and it’s easy to get caught up in work and distracted from the holiday season. I had time recently to reflect on the upcoming Thanksgiving season, and could not be more thankful for the support we’ve been given.

I had the great fortune recently to spend time with a group of passionate students whom were attending the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls Conference at Kutztown University. These students were eager to learn about our Animal Rescue program, but they easily gave more than they received. All schools attending the conference were encouraged to participate in philanthropy efforts to support Animal Rescue. The participating schools rallied with a passion and were successful in collecting nearly $1,200 in donated goods and cash!

These students are leading the way for millennial philanthropic efforts, and I’m truly thankful to have had the opportunity to connect with these inspiring individuals who are passionate about making a difference.

I am very proud of the work our team is doing to protect endangered and protected species like sea turtles, and it’s all because of YOU that we can give back to these animals. So, thanks!

What are you thankful for this year? Tell us in the comments section!
