With YOU, we make a difference

Published December 11, 2009

Tis the season for family, friends, and fish!  All three were in abundance last weekend as the National Aquarium celebrated Dollar Days Weekend and welcomed more than 13,000 people with $1 admission price despite the snowy, cold weather. Near-capacity crowds filled the Aquarium on both days, eager to escape the cold, enjoy the tropical temperatures of the Rainforest and see the Aquarium’s newest exhibit, Jellies Invasion. Dollar Days Weekend has been a tradition since the National Aquarium opened in 1981. It started as a way to thank our local community for welcoming the Aquarium to Baltimore, and it remains an important community event on the Aquarium’s calendar, and a celebration of the holiday season! The holiday season is a time to give thanks and reflect on what is important to us. At the National Aquarium, we are grateful that we live on a watery world, full of mystery and life.  Our community includes individuals who share values of family, education, and environmental responsibility. We put these values into practice year after year through our conservation initiatives, engaging education programs, and world-class exhibits. The video below takes a look back on all we shared in 2009.  Thank you for being a part of our work and success this past year.
